Dustin Johnson hopes to deliver at BMW International Open
World number 11 and the winner of 2010 BMW Championship, Dustin Johnson has his eyes on the 23rd edition of BMW International Open. The European Tour event will take place at the Golf Club München Eichenried in Munich,
Germany.
The 27-year-old pro celebrated his birthday on Wednesday, while attending a practice session at the venue.  He hit a couple of balls on the practice range and walked to the clubhouse to cut the cake. Johnson, answering a question,
said that victory in the BMW International Open would be the best birthday gift for him.
Johnson has been out of form after his runner-up finish in the Cadillac Championship this year. The veteran was one of the top guns, who managed to finish the tournament in par, despite facing threat from poor weather conditions.
He posted a 69 in the final round and took a one-stroke lead over Paul Casey.
However, his performance was a target of serious criticism at the 111th US Open, where his driving accuracy stumbled and his putting lost its poise. The player finished in 23rd place after failing to card
a score in par.
To curb the problem, the American has been working on his swings and now he is confident of delivering in the competition and surprising his fans.
While talking about his game and his confidence, Johnson said that he earned it through sheer practice, and a small conversation with Martin Kaymer, who was his teeing partner at the US Open.
Johnson said while speaking to reporters, “I've known him for a while. I mean, we're friends, so we talk a lot whenever I see him at tournaments or wherever, we always talk or chat. The first few years on Tour, I didn't really travel.
This year, I wanted to travel and play a little more international, so I'm going to do that and I'm going to probably continue to play a few events every year overseas.”
Johnson is excited for becoming part of the field, which will include former world number one Martin Kaymer, world number two Lee Westwood and reigning world number one Luke Donald.
