Dustin Johnson’s agent denies that the player is on PGA Tour suspension over drug chargers
Dustin Johnson’s long absence from the mainstream sport, apparently due to his recurring injuries, have now triggered new rumours that the formidable player is probably facing PGA Tour suspension over drug chargers.
Johnson accosted a terrible knee injury at the closing end of the last season and had to undergo surgery to repair some broken ligaments.
He had to stay off course for rehabilitation and returned to play at the WGC- Cadillac Champions in mid-March. He was schedule to play at this week’s HP Byron Nelson Championship at TPC Four Seasons Resort but withdrew his name on Friday at the last moment.
His continuous absence over one excuse or the other has now incited rumours that the world number 17 on the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) might be facing suspension over drug charges.
Johnson’s agent has now come out regarding the rumours and has backfired strongly against the rumour-mongers, stating that Johnson is still recovering from the terrible accident he suffered while lifting skiing board at his home in South Florida.
He said, “I have heard everything from A to Z. Dustin is not serving a drug suspension. I will make it clear – he has been injured. He is playing golf again, he is very rusty but chomping at the bit to get back out there”.
Meanwhile, Johnson who played stunning golf last season hasn’t started off his current season with a full throttle and is eager to get back in the limelight as soon as possible.
He said, “Obviously, I can’t wait to get back out and compete. I came into this year with some big goals, including making our Ryder Cup team, so I’ve got some serious ground to make up this summer”.
Winner of two PGA Tour events in the year 2010, Johnson started off his 2011 season with several strong finishes and finally clinched another title on the PGA Tour with a victory at the Barclays.
He posted a runner up finish alongside Phil Mickelson at the Open Championship at Royal St. George’s in Sandwich.
Known for his long drives off the tee, Johnson has remained one of the third longest drivers on the PGA Tour for several years.
