Dustin Pedroia homers as Boston Red Sox thrash Toronto Blue Jays 7-4- MLB News

Boston Red Sox thrashed the inspired Toronto Blue Jays 7-4 at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts on Thursday, June 27 in the opening game of their three match series of the 2013 Major League Baseball Regular season.
The running season has turned out to be a very fruitful one for the Red Sox, who finished at the bottom of the American League East Division standings last year. However, the Red Sox have managed to turn things around significantly
under the supervision of their new manager John Farrell.
It will be interesting to see if the Red Sox can continue their excellent form throughout this season to make it to the playoffs. Blue Jays, on the other hand, will be slightly disappointed with the outcome of the game. With little
bit more luck on their side, the result could have been very different for the Blue Jays.
"I slipped a little bit. I guess the doctors were kind of calling it a little jammed hip, a type of zinging sensation down my leg." Lester said. "It just didn't feel normal and like I said, at that point in the game, especially
with that offense -- they can score some runs in a hurry -- so there's no point in trying to be a hero. We've got a long way to go the rest of the season."
Blue Jays’ starting pitcher Chien Ming Wang had a forgettable time on the mound as he allowed six hits and seven runs in just over an inning to take his first loss of the year. Relief pitchers Juan Perez, Aaron Loup, Brett Cecil
and Steve Delabar made useful contributions as they combined to pitch 7 plus scoreless innings of relief. However, the night belonged to the Red Sox who held on to their lead comfortably to take 1-0 series lead.
Daniel Nava singled to deep left in the second inning to put Red Sox on the board. Jarrod Saltalamacchia earned an RBI single to centre to double the lead. Dustin Pedroia smacked a two run home run to left to help his side establish
complete control over the contest.
