Boston Red Sox’s Dustin Pedroia looking to focus on baseball and gaining momentum
Boston Red Sox’s Dustin Pedroia has recovered from his injury and he’s doing well in Fort Myers, Florida. The second baseman was up against a team in the Grapefruit League on Tuesday in which he hit some good knocks. On one occasion, he tried to steal a
base and even though he got out, he said he’d try doing it again in the coming days.
Pedroia had his left foot surgically repaired last year when he crashed out of the 2010 Major League Baseball season; the player is now seeking to regain his focus.
Pedroia was back in August to go up against the opposition in the season last year. After stealing second and running to third on misfiring throw, Pedroia reported a problem in his foot. Now it seems the situation is different as the second baseman feels
like his foot is up for the challenge. His stint against the Baltimore Orioles recently marked a third day of continuous role in spring games this year.
"It's good," Pedroia said. "I haven't had any problems or anything like that, and then today is my third game in a row, which is nice. I feel great today. My foot feels fine. My timing is getting better. I'm hitting the ball hard. I can't be any more excited
about it."
The Red Sox want their second baseman, who is considered a field leader, back in the attack before the league kicks off.
"The last few games, I haven't had to worry about anything. Yesterday, I tried to steal, and at first, it was going through my mind, 'I hope this goes OK.' ... After I got thrown out, I was kind of relieved that everything was fine and I could still steal
bases. Everything is good," Pedroia said.
Nevertheless, Boston isn’t taking chances on Pedroia and they’re taking it easy on the player.
