Dustin Pedroia speaks after Boston Red Sox lose to the Toronto Blue Jays 4-7 – MLB News
The Boston Red Sox were unable to pick up a crucial win as they lost 4-7 to the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday, September 8 at Rogers Centre in Toronto. Many players from the away team took the time to address the press. One club player happened to be second
baseman Dustin Pedroia.
Going in to the game against the Blue Jays, Pedroia was carrying a batting average of .301. The star in-fielder was also carrying a weak hitting average from the last four games. Unfortunately, that slump was carried over from this game as well, as the Boston
ace went 0 for 5. The hitter struck-out thrice and his batting average descended to .298. The star commented on his weak role in the last few games.
"I've been swinging the bat [poorly] for five games," said Pedroia. "There will be a time where I swing the bat for five games where I won't get out. That's how it happens."
The Boston club is trying to avail a wildcard berth in the American League but as the weeks draw closer to the end of the regular season, the competition is getting tougher. The club lost the Toronto series against the Blue Jays 1-3 and that has many fans
doubting the club’s chances.
"We want to play better," said Dustin Pedroia. "We want to win games. We're trying to win the division. Playing like this, it's not going to happen. So we've got to play better."
The in-fielder believes the club can get the job done but pressure is going to grow on the team as the days go by. The team will want to ascend to the top position in the American League but that will mean more wins. So, far that has not been the case.
"We're all trying to do good things and we're trying to win games," Pedroia said. "It's that time of year where we've got to do that. It will turn."
The Tampa Bay Rays are far behind, at the moment but if things continue as they have been progressing, the club may find itself in a sticky position by the end of the regular season.
