Dustin Poirier takes on Chan Sung Jung to headline UFC on Fuel TV 3 at Patriot Center – UFC news
Ultimate Fighting Champion (UFC) recently announced a featherweight non-title bout between Dustin Poirier and Chan Sung Jung for ‘UFC on Fuel TV3’ pay-per-view. It will be a five-round main event bout for May 15, 2012 show.
The show will be the third in its series on Fuel TV and will set up its octagon at Patriot Center situated in Fairfax, Virginia, United States. This is the second time that UFC is organising a pay-per-view show in Patriot Center.
At the moment most of the announced bouts are still being finalised but the headliner of the special edition has been announced by UFC President Dana White. According to the details, the winner of the brawl will be given a title shot and will take on Jose
Aldo for his 145-pound featherweight gold.
The release stated, “The winner is expected to emerge as a challenger to the UFC 145-pound title currently held by Brazilian star Jose Aldo.”
Dana white while commenting about the recent announcement said, “We're excited to head back to the Patriot Center again with another great night of fights, including a featherweight main event pitting Dustin Poirier against 'The Korean Zombie’. Poirier and
'The Korean Zombie' are two of the most exciting fighters in the UFC. This is going to be a fun fight. From top to bottom, I will deliver for the fans in Virginia.”
Barry Geisler, the general manager of the arena, also showed his excitement and commented that the whole management of Patriot Center is thrilled at UFC’s comeback adding that the promotion has always put forth the mixed martial art fans a ‘unique sporting
event’.
Dustin, widely known as ‘The Diamond’, has been in a total 13 mixed martial art brawls and came out victorious in 12 he has lost just one bout to Danny Castillo.
Since his affiliation with UFC, the young lad is on a continue winning streak and has nailed names such as Jason Young, Pablo Garza, and Max Holloway. Chan, infamous as ‘The Korean Zombie’, has been in a total 15 bouts and came out victorious in 12. He has
collected three of his wins by knockout, seven by submission, and two by decision.
Sung, 24, is also on a winning streak and recently defeated the Canadian Mark Hominick via knockout, a KO that won the ‘knockout of the night’ honour. Sung basically relies on his knockout ability and Dustin, on the contrary, is an all-rounder who tries
to nail the opponent by any means possible.
UFC on Fuel TV3 will also witness Thiago Silva take on Igor Pokrajac in a light heavyweight bout and Donald Cerrone colliding with Jeremy Stephens in the lightweight brawl.
