Dusty Baker confident about Chris Heisey’s early return – MLB News
The Cincinnati Reds manager Dusty Baker on Saturday, June 16, that the centre fielder of his team, Chris Heisey, is making improvement after sore left groin thwarted the player to represent the team.
Reds are currently engaged in three-game series against the New York Mets. Chris Heisey’s falling victim to injury does not indeed bode well for the Reds which wanted him to play an active and big part for the achievement of the victory in the series.
Nonetheless, the team manager said Heisey is moving around a lot better now. "He's moving around a lot better," prior to the starting of the game on Saturday against the New York Mets. It is worth mentioning here that the Reds had outshone the Mets in the first game by 7-3, strengthening their grip on the series.
Why Heisey retains significance in the team is because of his being at a very important position. Being an outfielder, he is expected to score run. That is what the team manager also alluded to when he spoke about Heisey.
"If he was playing first base or something, it'd be a different thing," Baker said. "But he's an outfielder and he's got to run. He depends on running. Definitely another day and maybe more. We'll see."
Be that as it may, the team is apparently not overly worried about it because the expectations are that Heisey will soon recover and start playing. For Heisey, things started going wrong on Thursday when the Reds were playing against the Cleveland Indians.
The centre fielder referred to it himself, saying it was in the fourth inning that he felt tightness when he had just crossed the played.
The initial worry for the Reds, which seems to have subsided now, had a palpable reason. Heisey had just replaced Drew Stubbs who was consigned to the disabled list after the oblique injury. With the one centre fielder gone to disabled list, the Reds will naturally want the other to recover soon and start contributing for the Reds which have played commendably well so far in this season.
