Dusty film collecting on CDs etc.?

When we leave CDs out in the open in our apartment a dusty film seems to collect on them. Looks almost like when a car windows mists up. The thin film wipes away and is not uniform in density across the CD. Maybe this film is collecting on other objects but its just noticible on the shiny CDs but it worries me that we have an air quality issue. Any ideas..has anyone else seen this?

It's dust.  A home air purifier or filters in your ventilation system should cure the problem.  There may be long-term health effects from breathing in a lot of dust over time.

No, never seen this.

I have a air cleaner in the building and filters in the vents.
