Dutch Eredivisie: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Twente-c39233 Enschede – Match report second-half
Ajax Amsterdam started proceedings in the second-half with champions’ pedigree. They looked a completely different side from the one that had lost the KNVB beker Cup final last week to FC Twente. The home crowd, in full voice, was also giving that much-needed
energy to the Amsterdammers.
The home side’s second goal came moments after the break. Denny Landzaat’s awful night turned into a nightmare when he deflected Gregory van der Wiel’s cross from the left into his own net to give the home side a 2-0 lead.
In the 48th minute, however, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luuk-de-Jong-c22956 played a perfect pass to Janssen, whose left-footed curling shot found the back of the net, leaving the Amsterdammers
goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kenneth-Vermeer-c20618 with no chance.
Frank de Boer used his first substitution in the 67th minute, sending in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marc-Janko-c23484 for Landzaat. Boer, then, sent
in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daley-Blind-c9747 for Nicolai Boilessen in the 73rd minute of the match.
The Tukkers went close to equalising in the 74th minute through Nacer Chadli. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-Rosales-c31362 made an impressive run on the left flank and chipped in a cross to Chadli in the box, but the striker was unable to control his header that went flying
over the crossbar.
In the 78th minute, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Christian-Eriksen-c9074 before putting the ball into the back of the net to make it 3-1.
The Tukkers tried their level best to come back into the match but failed to create any opportunities. Ajax did well to hold on to much of the possession in the remaining time. Although Ruiz got a half chance to score in the dying minutes of the match, the
Amsterdammers’ back-line proved too strong for the Tukkers. The Referee blew his whistle to signal the end of the match with the score line reading 3-1.
FC Twente were utterly disappointed with their performance as they missed out on a perfect opportunity to win a domestic treble. However, credit goes to the Ajax outfit for taking the game to the visitors.
After an excruciating wait of seven years, the Amsterdam giants have won the Eredivisie title. Amsterdam Arena portrayed breathtaking scenes of fans going into wild jubilation. De Boer was delighted with his side’s performance on the pitch. It was a special
day for the Amsterdammers’ tactician, who will not have a better birthday than the one he most recently witnessed.
