The Amsterdammers’ bid to retain the title continues to gain momentum, as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jan-Vertonghen-c17814, Siem de Jong and Lorenzo Ebicilio scored to see off Ruud Brood’s men.
In round-25 of Dutch top flight football, Ajax Amsterdam cruised to a comfortable 3-0 victory over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/RKC-Waalwijk-c40370 at Amsterdam Arena on Sunday, March 11. It was the fifth successive league win for the Amsterdammers.
Frank de Boer’s men commenced proceedings brightly and were unlucky not to take the lead in the sixth minute. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ricardo-c30950 van Rhijn unleashed a powerful long-range shot that struck the post before going out for a goal kick.
In the 26th minute, the Amsterdam giants took the lead through Jan Vertonghen. Van Rhijn flicked Theo Janssen’s corner that found Vertonghen on the far post, and the Belgian stopper made no mistake in hitting the back of the net from close range.
The reigning Eredivisie champions could have increased their lead before the half-time interval. However, RKC goalkeeper, Jeroen Zoet, made a brilliant save to deny http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Siem-de-Jong-c33482’s shot while Vertonghen’s headed effort was cleared off the line, though, the
television replays indicated that the ball had crossed the goal-line.
After the break, the home side continued to mount pressure on the visitors. De Jong fired his effort wide of the target in the 47th minute while Vertonghen saw his effort saved by Zoet moments later.
In the 54th minute, Adil Auassar’s back pass was intercepted by De Jong on the edge of the penalty area, and the Dutch striker made no mistake in sliding the ball past Zoet into the back of the net.
The RKC goalkeeper kept his side’s hopes alive of making a comeback, as he made another brilliant save to deny De Jong from scoring his second of the evening.
The visiting side finally drew out a fine save from the Amsterdammers goalkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kenneth-Vermeer-c20618, three minutes before the full time whistle when he denied Roald van Hout’s effort.
However, the home side were not content with the 2-0 score-line and scored another in the 89th minute. Dmitry Bulykin made a fine run at the left flank before crossing the ball into the box that found Lorenzo Ebicilio on the far post unmarked,
and he headed it with ease to seal the game 3-0.
