On Eredivisie match-day 17, Ajax Amsterdam cruised to a comfortable 4-0 victory over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/ADO-Den-Haag-c38221 at Amsterdam Arena on Sunday, December 18.
The Amsterdam giants started proceedings in front of their home crowd impressively and had an opportunity early on to take the lead. However, Miralem Sulejmani and Christian Eriksen failed to give a lead to the home side.
In the 10th minute, ADO suffered a huge blow on the pitch when http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ramon-c30533 Leeuwin received his marching orders - a straight red card - following a harsh two-footed tackle on Eriksen. With ten-men on the pitch, the visitors were never expected to make
things difficult for the home side.
It was evident afterwards when Eriksen broke the deadlock only nine minutes later. Nicolas Lodeiro played a good pass to the Danish starlet, who made no mistake in hitting the bottom left corner of the net.
Despite creating a number of opportunities, the Amsterdammers surprisingly failed to dent the visitors further in the opening half. Vurnon Anita’s shot was blocked by ADO goalkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gino-Coutinho-c14919, while Sulejmani fired over the crossbar.
After the half-time break, ADO created their first real opportunity early on. However, Tjaronn Chery’s effort failed to trouble the Amsterdammers goalkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kenneth-Vermeer-c20618.
In the 58th minute, the defending Dutch champions finally doubled their lead through Theo Janssen. Sulejmani played an impressive through ball for the veteran midfielder, who’s powered effort found the back of the net beyond the diving ADO goalkeeper.
Dmitry Bulykin’s strike put the result beyond doubt in favour of the home side in the 79th minute. Eriksen made an impressive run at the left flank before playing a low pass for the Russian ace to tap in from close range.
Six minutes later, Sulejmani put icing on the cake by scoring the Amsterdammers fourth of the evening. The Serbian ace played a brilliant one-two with Bulykin before hitting the back of the net. When the referee blew the final whistle to end proceedings
at Amsterdam Arena, the score-line read 4-0 in favour of Ajax.
All three points ensured that the Amsterdammers keep their fourth place in the league table intact - level on points with the third placed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 Alkmaar, who surprisingly
