Second-half goals from John Guidetti, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ruben-Schaken-c31854 and Sekou Cisse bagged all three points for the Rotterdammers, as Richard Roelofsen’s men continue to struggle in the drop zone.
In round-27 of Dutch top flight football, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Feyenoord-c39258 Rotterdam cruised to a dominating 3-0 win over De Graafschap at Vijverberg Stadion on Sunday, March 25.
The Rotterdammers commenced proceedings aggressively right from the kick-off and showed no signs of dropping points against the relegation threatened side.
John Guidetti tested the home side goalkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Karim-El-Ahmadi-c20353 cross sailed over the crossbar.
The Rotterdam giants pressed the home side all over the pitch and the immense pressure paid off with plenty of scoring opportunities; however, they failed to break the deadlock.
The home side had their first real opportunity in the opening half injury time when Jan-Paul Saijs’ volley was blocked by a defender.
After the half-time break, the visiting side continued to dominate the proceedings. Bakkal set up Cisse at the edge of the box, but he failed to hit the back of the net. Moments later, Guidetti and Ruben Schaken linked up well to allow the Swedish ace a
chance, but he failed to hit the target.
However, the Rotterdammers did take the lead in the 71st minute through Guidetti. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ron-Vlaar-c31697 played a brilliant ball that found the on-loan Manchester City striker, who finished neatly from inside the box to make the score-line 1-0.
Moments later, the home side had a good opportunity to level the score-line, but Rydell Poepon’s effort failed to trouble the visitors goalkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Erwin-Mulder-c12875.
With 13 minutes left on the clock, the Rotterdam giants put the match to bed when Schaken added his name to the score-sheet. De Winter made a good save to deny El Ahmadi from hitting the back of the net after he had raced clear into the penalty area on a
counter-attack. However, Schaken pounced on the loose ball to fire into the bottom right corner of the net.
Guidetti then had another opportunity to extend his side’s lead, but he failed to beat the goalkeeper despite being one-on-one. Cisse did make it 3-0 when he headed Schaken’s cross perfectly into the back of the net to seal the win.
Feyenoord remain unmoved at the fifth spot, five points behind the league leaders, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 Alkmaar. However, De Graafschap are having a miserable 2011/12 campaign, with only 16 points to their name from 27 matches.
