Luuk de Jong’s brace and goals from Emir Bajrami, Nacer Chadli and Ola John routed RKC but masked the fact that the hosts were not at their best.
FC Twente Enschede resumed their Eredivisie action when they thrashed RKC Waalwijk 5-0 at De Grolsch Veste on Saturday, January 21.

Moments later, Bajrami had another opportunity to give his side the lead, but his effort went inches wide of the target.

Nine minutes later, the home side doubled their lead when Bajrami’s powered effort took a deflection off Ard van Peppen, leaving the RKC goalkeeper wrong footed.
The visitors started to show some resistance after conceding two goals and no goals were added in the remaining first-half action.
After the half-time break, the Tukkers continued to put immense pressure on the Waalwijk outfit’s defence. In the 53rd minute, Sander Duits fouled Bajrami in the penalty area and the referee, without any hesitance, awarded a spot kick. De Jong
stepped up to take the penalty and coolly slotted home to make it 3-0.

In the 65th minute, Nacer Chadli sent Ola John’s free-kick into the back of the net to further extend his side’s lead. With nine minutes remaining on the clock, it seemed like the Tukkers will cruise to a 4-0 victory with ease.
However, the home side added another to the score-sheet when John’s perfect free-kick sailed into the corner of the net, leaving Zoet standing helpless yet again between the sticks.
The outfit from Utrecht tried their level best to score a consolation goal, but they never really managed to trouble the home side’s defence and the match ended in a comfortable 5-0 victory in favour of the Tukkers.
