John Guidetti’s hat-trick stole the show yet again as the Rotterdammers cruised to a hard fought victory.
In round 21 of the Eredivisie fixtures, Feyenoord Rotterdam secured a hard fought 3-1 win over Vitesse Arnhem at De Kuip Stadion on Sunday, February 12. The Rotterdammers performed impressively in front of their home crowd but it was John Guidetti’s treble
that stole the show.
The home side commenced action at home brightly and took the lead in the 12th minute through Guidetti. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kelvin-Leerdam-c20548 headed Jordy Clasie’s corner and the on-loan Manchester City star deflected the ball into the back of the net.
Moments later, Vitesse could have levelled the score-line when http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Erwin-Mulder-c12875. However, the Rotterdammers shot-stopper made a brilliant save to keep his side’s slim lead intact.
In the 31st minute, Guidetti was brought down in the box, and the man in charge awarded a penalty. The Swedish ace coolly fired the resulting spot-kick into the bottom-left corner of the net to make the score-line 2-0.
However, the Arnhem outfit pulled one back ten minutes later. Leerdam was penalised for handling the ball in the box, and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nicky-Hofs-c27732 fired home from the penalty spot.
After the half-time break, Vitesse pushed hard for an equaliser with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mike-Havenaar-c25700 failing to hit the back of the net, heading wide of the target on two occasions. Mulder made another brilliant save to deny Marco van Ginkel’s volley going into the back of
the net, much to the dismay of Vitesse’s boss, John van den Brom.
The home side made the Arnhem outfit pay in the 83rd minute for their missed opportunities, when Guidetti completed his hat-trick and put the match to bed. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ruben-Schaken-c31854 set up the Swedish teenager in the area and his powered effort found the
back of the net to seal the game 3-0.
The young striker, who had earlier scored hat-tricks in his side’s 4-2 win over Ajax Amsterdam and 3-2 win against FC Twente Enschede, took his tally for the ongoing season to 17 goals from 15 appearances after arriving on a one-year loan deal from the Citizens
in the summer of 2011.
