Dutch Eredivisie round 22 previews – Part-2
SBV Excelsior vs. AZ Alkmaar
SBV Excelsior faces AZ Alkmaar at Stadion Woudestein on Saturday. The Kralingers have not been able to cement a place in the Eredivisie, as they have teetered between Eerste divisie and Eredivisie throughout the last decade.
The Kralingers won back promotion to this season, but it looks like their time in Dutch’s top flight will end with this season; they are currently placed 16th in the league table and are becoming a strong contender for relegation. Roodzwarten
manager, Alex Pastoor is disappointed with his team performances. Pastoor will be hoping that his side turn things around and start claiming results to achieve a respectable position in the league. The Excelsior have not been able to win any of their last
five matches. Roodzwarten will be looking to bag a point in this fixture to stay as far away from the danger zone as possible.
AZ Alkmaar is currently placed 5th in the league table. Team manager, Gertjan Verbeek is pleased with his side’s performance in the season. Verbeek’s side got a morale booster when they thrashed VVV-Venlo 6 – 1 last weekend. AZ will be looking
to bag all three points in this encounter, as they are seeking a place in the Europa league.
Head-to-Head statistics
Excelsior managed to bag a point against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 earlier this season. They will be hoping to do the same again this term. In their last three encounters against Alkmaar, the Kralingers have managed to draw the game twice while they were thrashed on the third
occasion.
VVV-Venlo vs. NAC Breda
Eredivisie strugglers, VVV-Venlo will face NAC Breda at Seacon Stadion De Koel on Saturday. Venlo recorded their best league result last season after an agonizing wait of more than two decades, finishing 12th in the Eredivisie. Venlo are having
a disastrous season this term, as they are placed 17th in the league table. The Good Old have played 21 matches, won thrice, drew once while they were humiliated 17 times by the oppositions.
Even the most pessimistic of Venlo fans were not expecting their team to lose games regularly at Seacon Stadion De Koel. Venlo have won two and lost nine of their 11 matches while playing in front of their home crowd. Team manager, Willy Boessen is far from
happy with his side’s performances lately. He has to improvise his strategies if he wants his team to achieve a respectable position in the league.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/NAC-Breda-c39983 have emerged as a good team in the last couple of years. The Rats performances were pleasing despite the club’s financial crisis leading to the resignation of several club members. Yellow Army are playing without a permanent manager, but the team
is showing great resistance against Eredivisie clubs. Consequently, they are placed 10th in the league table.
With 13 games left in the season, NAC will be seeking a place in the Europa league. The Rats will have to play impressively if they want a place in Europe’s secondary competition.
Head-to-Head statistics
Venlo have played poorly in the last couple of years. Needless to say, they have not managed to beat NAC in their last five head-to-head encounters. NAC won on three occasions and two ended in stalemates.
