Dutch Football Association insists http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 will play Bayern Munich next year- Bundesliga news
Dutch Football Association official Bert van Oostveen has dismissed reports that Netherlands will not play a friendly against Bayern Munich next year. He insisted that Association has made an agreement and will surely honour the
commitment. He played down the call from manager Bert van Marwijk to cancel the fixture after Bayern blamed Netherlands for Arjen Robben’s injury.
KNVB announced in February this year that the national team will play a friendly against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena next year to compensate for Arjen Robben’s injury problems on international duty. Coach Bert van Marwijk
recently called for the match to be called off after the club once again blamed the Dutch Football Association for the player’s injury.
KNVB official Bert van Oostveen stated that Marwijk’s remarks were pure emotion and that they will surely honour the commitment made to Bayern Munich and play in the friendly match. He added that a decision has already been reached
over the matter earlier this year and Dutch Football Association would definitely respect that.
“I understand the emotion that can arise after the game, but we have a clear agreement with Bayern Munich. The KNVB respects these agreements. We will play against Bayern, there is no question about that,” he was quoted as saying
in an interview.
Earlier this week, Marwijk insisted that if he had to make a decision he would never have played Bayern Munich next year. He blasted Bayern Munich for constantly blaming KNVB for Arjen Robben’s injury problems. The manager called
for a cancelation of the match next year and stated that they cannot always listen to the Bavarian club’s false claims.
“If it's up to me, we won't play Bayern anymore. I've had it with Bayern. As far as I’m concerned, we don't play them in May,” the Dutch manager added.
Netherlands lead the Group E table with 27 points from the nine games played, winning every single game. The Dutch have only conceded five times in the campaign so far and will play their last match against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sweden-c3015 on Tuesday.
