Dutch International: Andre Kurniawan Tedjono proved too strong for Dicky Palyama in semi-final clash
Indonesia’s Andre Kurniawan Tedjono put up a spectacular performance in Men’s Singles semi-final contest when he outplayed Dicky Palyama of Netherlands at the Dutch International 2012 on Saturday, April 14, in Netherlands.
The World Number 59 Tedjono, who was seeded at number five in Dutch International, played to his maximum potential and outclassed the fourth seed and World Number 54 Palyama in an impressive fashion.
Tedjono showed his elevated skills when he toppled the home favourite Palyama who could not live up to expectations despite playing in front of his home crowd.
On the other hand, Palyama tried to play aggressive game in the opening set but failed to dictate his opponent at any stage and lost the contest in straight games of 35 minutes.
In the first set, both men showed their elevated skills in the court as they snapped each other’s heel by playing attacking badminton.
Tedjono was employing powerful smashes while Palyama was impressive in driving the bird in all areas of the court.
Both shuttler played positive and composed badminton and remained close until the mid-game interval.
After the one-minute break, Tedjono changed his strategy and worked well at net which helped him to take a reasonable lead.
On the other hand, Palyama could not maintain his speed and started to make errors at this crucial stage.
The Indonesian remained positive in the court and took the opening set without any problem by a 21-17 score on the board.
In the second set, Tedjono was on a different level as he played attacking badminton and spared no chance for his higher ranked local rival to put up strong resistance.
Until the one-minute break, Tedjono was moving far ahead of his Dutch opponent on the score board.
After the break, Tedjono continued his inspiring performance in the game and did not show any mercy to Palyama at any stage in the game.
The lower ranked Indonesian took the second set with a completely one-sided score of 21-9.
Tedjono emerged as the winner of this 35-minute semi-final encounter with a striking 21-17 and 21-9 score on the board.
