Dutch International: Nelson Wei Keat Heg and Ee Yi Teo clinch Men’s Doubles title – Badminton news
Malaysia’s Nelson Wei Keat Heg and Ee Yi Teo destroyed local hopes when they defeated Dutch shuttlers Jorrit De Ruiter and Dave Khodabux in Men’s Doubles final after and clinched the title at the Dutch International 2012 on Sunday, April 15, in Netherlands.
The un-seeded Malaysians were impressive on the final day as they proved their supremacy in the arena by beating higher ranked Jorrit and Dave who were the third seeded players in the tournament.
On the other hand, Jorrit and Dave played tremendous badminton in the opening game and took it but could not maintain their impressive performance and lost the following both games in 52 minutes.
In the first set, both sides played tremendous badminton and entertained the crowd with their impressive skills. They employed all of their skills to take lead but remained close until the mid-game break.
After the interval, both pairs continued their positive and aggressive play and reached at the concluding phase without setting up any lead.
At this crucial stage, Nelson and Ee Yi could not dominate the pace of lost the set with a respectable difference of 19-21.
In the second set, Nelson and Ee Yi became quicker as they played with precision and executed powerful smashes in all areas of the court.
They did not drop their speed at any stage and took a comfortable lead without facing tough resistance until the one-minute interval.
After the break, the Malaysia duo continued snapping Dutch pair’s heels and remained in full control of the pace of rallies.
They remained on track and did not face any problem in taking the second game with a tremendous margin of 21-13.
In the deciding set, Nelson and Ee Yi were impressive as they did not spare any chance for their local opponents to control the game and managed a superb gap until the one-minute interval.
After the break, the Malaysians did not drop their speed and easily bagged the set with an incredible 21-9 score on the board.
Nelson and Ee Yi emerged as title winners by ending the final contest with a superb margin of 19-21, 21-13 and 21-9.
