The 2011 CEV Volleyball European League is just around the corner. The elite volleyball competition is scheduled to hit the town in the month of May.
The double-gender event will be officially kicked off on May 27 with women’s competitions, while the men’s teams will break the ice on May 28. A total of 24 European teams (12 men’s and 12 women’s) will enter the competition.

Great Britain and Croatia in the Pool A of the tournament. The rest of the teams will play in the Pool B and Pool C.
The Dutch squad is headed by inspirational coach Edwin Benne, who has big plans for the 2011 Season. At this stage, Benne has picked out 27 best players for the national team. In the coming few days, the list will be further shortened and top-12 players

Meanwhile, the mentor of Dutch team stated, “All players included in this list have got a chance to be selected for the national team and also the youngsters coming from our junior national team. We have some players, like Jeroen Trommel, Wytze Kooistra
and Robert Horstink that will certainly not play in the European League. We have divided the 2011 season into two parts: we will mainly use the 2011 CEV Volleyball European League to develop our team as well as the individual skills of our players. Of course
we want to perform well there but our priority is the team building. We will then review our performance in the European League and put together the strongest team for the Olympic qualification.”
The team has already started preparation at the Topsportcentrum in Rotterdam. Moreover, the Dutch guys are scheduled to play some friendly matches against China and Belgium at home before the start of European League.
The Dutch cities of Almelo, Zwolle and Wijchen will host the matches. It will surely help the teams to give a final touch to their preparation. The hosts will be having the competitive edge of playing in familiar conditions.
