Dutch Men’s and Women’s hockey squads selected for EuroHockey Nations Championship in Germany
The Dutch Men’s and Women’s national hockey teams have been selected for the upcoming EuroHockey Nations Championship which is going to be played in Monchengladbach, Germany from August 20 and will be concluded on August 28. All of the top European hockey
power houses like Germany, Spain, Netherlands and England will compete against each for the title.
The Dutch Women’s side, which recently won the 2011 Rabo FIH Women’s Champions Trophy at its home soil in Amsterdam beating Argentina, the reigning World Champions, on penalty shootouts, has now been strengthened by the inclusion of Naomi van As, who recently
is recovering from her ankle injury and expected to be completely before the competition starts.
The Men’s squad featured the goalkeeper Jaap Stockmann as the first choice while Pirmin Blaak will be the second option in the championship as coach of the Dutch national team, Paul van a*s, looks to have more confidence in Stockman.

Jaap Stockmann (Goal keeper) and Pirmin Blaak (Goal keeper).
The Dutch Women’s national hockey squad for the EuroHockey Nations Championship consists of the following athletes:
Maartje Paumen (C), Kim Lammers, Sabine Mol, Margot van Geffen, Sophie Polkamp, Daphne van der Velden, Claire Verhage, Lidewij Welten, Marilyn Agliotti, Naomi van As, Merel de Blaey, Willemijn Bos, Carlien Dirkse van den Heuvel, Maartje Goderie, Eva de Goede,
Ellen Hoog, Floortje Engels (Goal keeper) and Joyce Sombroek (Goal keeper).
Meanwhile both of the Men’s and Women’s EuroHockey Nations Championship II, which are being played in Vinnitsa, Ukraine, and Poznan, Poland, respectively, have been entered into their semi-final phase as the preliminary round has been concluded on Thursday,
August 11 while the finals of the championships will be played on Sunday, August 14.
The competition includes the second rated European teams those have not been invited in EuroHockey Nations Championships in Monchengladbach, fighting for the place in the Olympic qualifiers which will be held in early in the next year. Four top finishers
will confirm their berth in the Olympic qualifying tournament.
On the Men’s side Scotland, Austria, Poland and Czech Republic have qualified for the semi-finals of the competition while France, Russia, Scotland and Belarus have qualified from the semi-finals from Women’ side. The competitions will be concluded on Sunday,
August 14.
