Dutch Open Grand Prix: Adam Cwalina and Michal Logosz grab Men’s Doubles title – Badminton news
Poland’s Adam Cwalina and Michal Logosz went home by swelling with pride as they clinched Men’s Doubles title after beating the higher ranked Ingo Kindervater and Johannes Schoettler of Germany in the final contest of the 2011 Dutch Open Grand Prix, at Almere,
Netherlands, on Sunday, October 16.
The World Number 21, Cwalina and Logosz played terrific badminton against the top seeds Kindervater and Schoettler, who are currently World Number 15. The Polish pair worked really hard to beat the German rivals in a thrilling rubber-set fight, which took
54 minutes of aggressive play from both sides.
The starting points of the first game were incredibly fast as both pairs spared no chance to hit the bird down the ground. They continued playing impressive game until the interval in the opening half of the set and remained close until the interval.
After the break, they progressed in the similar attacking way and continued winning points by remaining close. The match entered into the ending phase when the Polish duo got the chance to finish the opening set and they grabbed it to take the opening set
with a 21-19 margin in 19 minutes.
In the second game, the German duo lifted up their level of play and progressed with the equal pace. Both pairs continued snapping each other’s heels and reached at the concluding phase. However, Cwalina and Logosz made a crucial error and lost the game
with a tight margin of 19-21 by taking 20 minutes.
In the deciding game of this final battle, Cwalina and Logosz came in the court with a completely different approach as they geared up their speed from the opening points and maintained it throughout the whole set. They left no room for their opponents to
earn points.
Cwalina and Logosz won the third game in a striking fashion with a wonderful score of 21-14 by consuming just 15 minutes in the court. The end result of this 54-minute rubber-set final match was 21-19, 19-21 and 21-14.
