Dutch Open Grand Prix: Duanganong Aroonkesorn-Kunchala Voravichitchaikul claim Women’s Doubles title
Thailand’s talented pair of Duanganong Aroonkesorn and Kunchala Voravichitchaikul claimed Women’s Doubles title after taming Shinta Mulia Sari and Lei Yao of Singapore in the final of the 2011 Dutch Open Grand Prix, in Netherlands, on Sunday, October 16.
Duanganong and Kunchala, who were the top seeds in the Women’s Doubles draw of the Dutch Open, played to their full potential and won the battle in two games with a wonderful margin. They showed no respect to the Singaporean opponents and finished the fight
in just 38 minutes.
Mulia Sari and Yao failed to play positive badminton as they committed many mistakes throughout the match. Their coordination was not that good to stop the Thai opponents from winning the title. The Singaporeans completely failed to play top class game and
lost the battle in straight sets.
In the first set of the match, Duanganong and Kunchala opened their campaign in a striking style as they played with wonderful aggression and took no time in setting up a comfortable lead.
The Singaporean shuttlers remained trailing as they played defensive game which provided a chance to the higher ranked Thai ladies to dominate the game.
After the break in the first game, Duanganong and Kunchala remained on the right track by playing planned game. They made no mistake in winning the opening set with a stunning score of 21-10 in just 15 minutes.
The following set was a tough fight in the first part of the game when both sides remained close until the interval. The score remained tight as both sides maintained the same speed.
After the break, Duanganong and Kunchala paced up the rallies by injecting more power in their strokes and started to extend the lead. Their positive and attacking game pushed the Singaporeans on the back foot. The Thai ladies remained successful in finishing
off the second set with a decent margin of 21-16 by taking 23 minutes.
Duanganong and Kunchala won the final contest in straight sets by taking 38 minutes with a convincing margin of 21-10 and 21-16.
