Dutch Open Grand Prix: Ingo Kindervater and Johannes Schoettler storm into Men’s Doubles final
Germany’s top pair of Ingo Kindervater and Johannes Schoettler storm into the Men’s Doubles final after thrashing Netherlands’ Ruud Bosch and Koen Ridder in the semi-final of the 2011 Dutch Open Grand Prix, on Saturday, October 15, at Almere, Netherlands.
Kindervater and Schoettler, who are currently World Number 15, showed no mercy to their local opponent’s and finished off the battle in straight games by consuming just 31 minutes in the court. The Dutch pair of Bosch and Ridder failed to stop the aggressive
play of their German rivals and bowed down in two games.
The German duo opened the first game in a fast way as they kept the bird low to control the pace of the game. Their powerful smashes destroyed the defence of their opponents. The wonderful blocking at the net helped the German pair to take a comfortable
lead at the break.
After the interval, Bosch and Ridder tried to elevate their game but failed to stop the incredible run of their higher ranked rivals. Kindervater and Schoettler continued their impressive game and maintained pressure on the Dutch opponents.
The net play of the German duo was incredible as they won many points at the net and kept their challengers on the back foot. Kindervater and Schoettler delivered wonderful performance in the first set and won it with a wonderful difference of 21-14.
In the second set of this Men’s Doubles fight, the Dutch pair lifted up their level of play and remained close to their opponents in the first half of the game. The crowd was supporting their local heroes and the duo responded well to the home fans. Until
the break, both pairs remained close as the German shuttlers were just ahead.
After the break, the score remained close as both pairs were working well at the net and the pace of the rallies was at the maximum level. The score entered into the final phase of the set when Kindervater and Schoettler played with variation and won the
game with a 21-19 score. The end result of this straight-set semi-final was 21-14 and 21-19.
In the final, Kindervater and Schoettler will take on Poland’s Adam Cwalina and Michal Logosz.
