Dutch aims to make it to the top
In one of his captivating performances, he defeated Dave Chisnall 6-1 to purse 6,000 pounds at the end of the game.
With the help of a nine-dart and a final checkout of 170 Dutch darts player Michael van Gerwen was able to make his place in the second round of UK Open Qualifying session at Crawley.
This is his first PDC victory since 2009 on ProTour. By continuing the procession of victories he intends to reserve a position for himself in July's World Matchplay.
The 22-year-old darts player has been able to manifest his presence in the mainstream of darts after he was able to defeat Steve Brown to grab the license for PDC in the form of a Tour Card.
The Dutch darts player, in the form of his consecutive victories against Stuart Kellett and Richie Howson, reached the last 16 to contest against Jamie Caven.
This encounter also ended in favour of Michael, as he was able to settle the game 6-2 by scoring darts in the four legs of 11, 12, 11 and 15 darts.
According to experts Van Gerwen is in superb form and momentum. This can help him in easily overcoming any of his opponents, irrespective of the position that he shares in the mainstream of darts.
He admits that his wins provide a breakthrough to his career. He will now be competing against some top notch players in the upcoming events, which will prove helpful in testing his potential to a greater extent.
Dave Chisnall, on the other hand, proved that he was provided undue publicity and coverage after he was able to defeat Phil Taylor, the 15-time champion of darts in his campaign launching event at Ladbrokes.
However, as events unfolded, Chisnall proved that he still lacks the potential and the temperament required to make him a valuable darts player.
In addition to Van Gerwen, other players who will also be making into the Premier League include Australian ace Simon Whitlock and Raymond van Barneveld.
They will also be joined by another prominent Dutch darts player Van der Voort, who has recently recovered from the stomach infection he experienced during the Cash Converters event.
With the cream of the crop gathering under one roof, the competition will undoubtedly be legendary.
