Dutch international Nigel De Jong wishes to stay at Manchester City – Premier League Update
Manchester City midfielder and Dutch international, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nigel-de-Jong-c27882 has gone on to insist that he does not plan on leaving the Etihad Stadium in the near future.
The holding midfielder has had an impressive run at the club, but is currently nearing the end of his contract with the club. His current deal with the club ends at the end of next season and with there being no progress over contract talks, many believe
the midfielder is on his way out of the club.
However, with all this speculation building up around his future, the Dutch international has gone on to insist that he has no plans of leaving and is certain that he will be given a contract extension in the near future.
"There is no concern about my contract," De Jong told reporters.
"I have spoken my mind, it is up to the club to decide what they want to do now.”
The player then went on to admit that the three years he had spent at the club were delightful and that his ultimate goal was to still win prizes. Having helped City win the FA Cup, he now wants to help the team go all the way and pick up another trophy
or two in the near future.
"I have been here for three years and I am happy.”
"I am here to win prizes. We won the FA Cup last season, now we are doing well in the Premier League. For me there is no reason to move on."
De Jong has been a very influential force in the City squad. The player is regarded to be one of the most lethal holding midfielder, mainly due to the fact that he possesses tremendous tackling ability and his no nonsense attitude just reinforces his style
of play.
City do have the likes of Yaya Toure and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Barry-c14423 who can also play as holding midfielders. However, neither one of those players have the same skill set that De Jong has, when it comes to intercepting plays and tackling opponents every other second.
All in all, losing De Jong would see City lose one very crucial part of their team.
