Dutch shuttlers rule in all doubles events of Croatian International 2012 – Badminton News
The final day of Croatian International 2012 was a day of triple joy for the Dutch shuttlers as they ruled in all the finals of doubles events on March 11, 2012.
The doubles experts Jacco Arends- Ilse Vaessen, Jacco Arends- Maas Jelle and Samantha Barning- Eefje Muskens of Netherlands bagged the crown in Mixed doubles, Men’s doubles and Women’s doubles categories respectively.
The mixed doubles Dutch pair Jacco Arends- Ilse Vaessen started the splendid victory saga by nailing the rival pair Zvonimir Durkinjak- Stasa Poznanovic of Croatia in the final contest of the event.
The epic tussle lasted for 53 minutes and both teams stretched hard to overcome their opponent but the Croatian duo had to surrender after scorers showing final figures of 22-20, 17-21 and 21-16 in the favour of Jacco Arends- Ilse Vaessen.
Dutch female duo of Samantha Barning and Eefje Muskens enhanced the celebration by sealing the crown in the Women’s doubles event. They thrashed the German finalist pair Johanna Goliszewski- Carla Nelte in straight-set match with 21-18 and 21-19 score on
the board.
The Dutch ladies put up a great exhibition of their badminton skills throughout the 33-minute tussle and outclassed their German challengers in all departments of game.
The last chapter of this victory saga was the Men’s doubles team win. The doubles experts Jacco Arends and Maas Jelle snatched the honour from the rival Croatian duo Zvonimir Durkinjak- Zvonimir Hoelbling with a convincing straight-set victory.
They pushed their opponents into dark and stole the limelight with their dazzling performance. The Dutch couple sealed the crown in just 25 minutes with a significant margin of 21-16 and 21-14.
Croatian pair Zvonimir Durkinjak- Zvonimir Hoelbling could not pocket the home ground advantage and lost the crucial final match in an exhibition match style.
This concluded the final day of Croatian International 2012 badminton event in which the Dutch shuttlers ruled in three out of five categories.
Meanwhile, the Men’s singles and Women’s singles titles belonged to the German shuttler Lukas Schmidt and Kana Ito from Japan respectively.
The Japanese girl defeated her Turkish rival Neslihan Yigit while the German Champ Lukas Schmidt overpowered Emil Holst of Denmark.
