  1. -To plan the curriculum and learning plans

    -to ensure the care and wellbeing of children

    -liase with parents and carers

    -work with other professionals in and out of the setting.

    -to ensure smooth  transitions into and leaving preschool.

    -monitor safety of the children and report any suspicions.

    -manage the settings staff.

    -setting out suitable learning environments.

    For many it also includes:

    -sorting out the funding forms

    -budgeting the finances

    -ensure setting is prepared for OFSTED inspections

    -purchasing equipment

    -Filling in paperwork such as planning sheets, childrens record books.


  2. The only thing I would add is continuing to take workshops and courses to improve your skills. In NY child care workers are required to have 30 hours of training every time they renew their license. If you work in  a public school it is still a good practice to keep up with the latest techniques.
