Dubawi Gold set for the Goodwood and Strong Suit awaiting October for the Prix de la Foret at Longchamp on Arc weekend
Recently Richard Hannon has been putting his decision making abilities at trial, initially about Harbour White to either contest in the Middle Park Stakes or the Dubai Dewhurst Stakes. Now he is confronted with the confusion about Strong Suit regarding Goodwood
Group One.
His concern is stuck on the fact that he does not want both his horses in the same race and is more confident about Strong Suit, Lennox Stakes winner, being the more suitable option provided that the ground is as much in form as is the horse.
He has been able to secure the first position twice in his four starts (2010-2011) first at Ascot and the next one at Goodwood both with a distance of 7 furlongs rode by R. Hughes.
"Soft ground is the only worry, but the vibes we are getting from Goodwood are encouraging and I would like to run him if conditions are suitable," the trainer told his personal website.
However, Pearl Bloodstock racing manager David Redvers tweeted:
“Strong Suit not declared for Celebration Mile as already had 5mm and a further dose of rain predicted.”
Strong Suit has been recently bought by Pearl Bloodstock and their manager, David Redvers who told that the colt was now most certainly been awaited for the Prix de la Foret at Longchamp on Arc weekend.
The rain and its prediction has settled the decision for Richard Hannon and that would now mean that his other star, Dubawi Gold, Irish 2,000 Guineas runner-up will represent the father and son team of the Hannons in the races otherwise he was scheduled
for the Group Three Supreme Stakes on Sunday as an alternative.
Dubawi Gold has been on break of five months and during that he had maintained his form and stamina back which would be put to display as soon as he will hit the tracks of Goodwood.
He is no doubt a keen runner and an exuberant sort. His dual win also includes the English 2,000 Guineas.
At Goodwood it will be a close one between Poet’s Voice, Beacon Lodge and Dubawi Gold, the last making an effort to please his trainer by making it the first win in this race since Swing Low in 1993.
As mentioned earlier, Strong Suit is being kept away for Prix de la Foret at Longchamp on Arc weekend, first weekend of October where all the champions clash.
It is a mix of British, Irish and French horses competing one other. It will be a lineup of all Group One winners.
It is almost religiously held on the first Sunday of every October.
Both the horses have been reined towards their destinations which are nothing less than prestigious career milestones for both of them.
How very fruitful the cautions of their trainer will prove are now dependent upon the diligence of the horses along with the firm drive of the jockeys.
