i just got a used canon zr500, everything works except when i play an older tape recorded on my old zr90 on my 50" plasma tv, i get funny square 'pixels' moving around all over the place, sound and 'overall' picture is not stocking or so, does anyone know why this is happening? i don't want to yell at the company i bought this from if it's only a setting maybe... or problem with the tape, but i don't have a chance to check that (it's the same on 2 different tapes) any ideas?

  1. on all your old tapes do you see this happen on the camcorders lcd?it is very posible the older tapes were recorded with a different tape path. what i mean is the 2 heads of the drum used for recording and playback are aligned to a certain tape position. if your new camcorder is aligned slightly different then it will play out of sync.

do you still have the old camcorder? if you play the tapes on that one do they work fine?  all tapes on the new camcorder tha are recorded on that one work fine right? then that's whats happening.
