Dvd decoder help?

i need a free dvd decoder for my laptop to allow me to play dvds,but my laptop wont let me save anything(HELP)

There's plenty of free DVD players out there, including the excellent AVS:

But if you can't save anything (presumably you mean writing or downloading to the hard drive is disabled) then you could be stuck. There's no such thing as an online DVD player, yet. Can you put a memory stick in it and save and install the program to that possibly?

vlc player will let you play dvds.... and is free

a decoder for WMP or other players cost money...
