which new high definition format is better, hd dvd or blu-ray.

They're exactly the same quality, its a race to see which one takes off though, sorta like vhs and bitamax

The war is over.  Blu-ray won.  But both formats offered the same picture and sound quality.  We just needed one format to get this thing going.   Warner Bros. said it best:

"A two-format landscape has led to consumer confusion and indifference toward high definition, which has kept the technology from reaching mass adoption and becoming the important revenue stream that it can be for the industry."
