Dvd player is completely dead.

I have a mild knowledge of electronics, and have just recently recived an lg 5183 dvd player.Problem: It doesnt turn on! no standby led, no life at all.I have had a look for bad solder joints already but with no avail.Is there any way to bring it back to life?
