Dvd player sound. Having not been used for about 9 months the picture reproduction on my DVD

Having not been used for about 9 months the picture reproduction on my DVD player is fine but the audio pitch is too low. That is, the voices are much slower and deeper than they should be. I've tried a lens cleaning disk but it didn't do the trick. Any suggestions, please?
