Sometimes dvd's load, sometimes they don't. Sometimes they play halfway through but they never play all the way through now. If a dvd even plays in my dvd player it will play some of the movie and then it gets permanantly paused.... anybody have any idea what's going on here? it can't be the dvds because most of mine are brand new and they don't have a scratch on them. The dvd player however, is not new, I've had it for like 2 years now I think.

  1. most of the time when this happens its because the rail that the dvd drive slides on to read the disc becomes dry and needs to be lubed with a thin or light duty oil.another thing that can cause this is because the secondary mirror under the laser eye becomes dirty or fogged over by dust and dirt.most of the time a dry rail, also called a worm gear, becomes dry and the drive cant move up and down the rail smoothly, causing the movies to skip or freeze up.the reason it will lock half way through a movie or not load at all  sounds like the classic symptoms of what i just described.lubing the worm gear and rail usualy fixes about 75 to 80 % of players that wont load or lock up.hope this helps.
