Hi TampaN,I have a compaq nx9010 laptop with a toshiba sd c2612 dvd rom.I am using windows xp professional 5.1 sp2.Since I have reinstalled the windows,the dvd rom does not work properly.If I put any kind of discs into the drive it would recognize as an audio cd with some kilobytes of size.I tried plenty type of Windows install but none of them worked,and plenty modes of driver and firmware updates but all of them were in vain.I have read about this at the microsoft home page(DMA and PIO settings)but I have not understood..There were a computerist-as you-who found a solution one year ago.He installed and made some changes at the windows,and worked well. Unfortunately I had to reinstall the xp last week but I can not make a contact with that computerist anymore.I am looking forward to hearing from youThank youLazlo
