  1. I don't think they do a whole lot.  I have a Blu-ray player and I don't see how a "DVD Upscaler" can compare.  What a lot of people don't realize is your taking a standard DVD format and trying to convert it to a HD format.  It's not going to look HD, hence why Blu-ray movies are $25 a pop.  Blu-rays are formatted for HD resolution, a walmart upscaler won't get close to it.  My advice, save your money and don't waste it on some cheap "upscaler".

  2. It is different from an HD DVD Player or a Blue Ray Player because the content, as it is written, it not actually in high definition. The player increases the amount of pixels and then fills the blank pixels with colors that it thinks are suitable. Technically, it outputs more pixels, but not the same colors as the author of the dvd intended. Therefore, you will not get a true HD picture. I think these things are a waste of money. Just wait for the price of real HD players to drop and buy that instead.

  3. Don't waste your money on upgrading your DVD player until you can afford a blu-ray dvd player and when you can do that you should buy a PS3 instead as they have more to offer than a stand alone blu-ray dvd player.

All of this is a waste of money though unless you have a TV screen that is capable of displaying true blu-ray.

Your TV will need to be 1920x1080 and have your PS3 connected via a HDMI Input.

    Hope this helps.
