Question:

Dwarf Hamster Breeding?

I have just introduced my two winter whites to each other (male and female) for breeding. The male seems to be ok and shows a lot of interest but female keeps fighting him off, it has been a week and she still doesn't like him much. I put them together only for 6 hours a day (night) when i'm home so i can make sure they don't fight too much then separate them when i go to work etc. Is there anyone who has good knowledge of the issue? cheers.

  1. the boy can get ruff trust me i got an dwarf hamster but the girl is just playing hard to get that is all soon just wait she would like him.

  2. I for one do not think breeding hamsters is a very smart idea because you HAVE to seperate the babies from there DAD or he will eat them! But sometimes there is a chance that the MOTHER might eat them too! Thats what happend to me...

    good luck!

  3. Trust me, I've bred many hamsters, and spawned over 400.

Ok, do this step 1st its very important

*introduce you couple by pushing their cages right next to each other. This way the pair will have a chance to sniff each other out and meet eachother from the comfort of their own home. Do this for about 2 nights.

The females are the ones that are aggressive.Of course the male will be ready to mate at anytime but because the female goes through a menstrual cycle just like humans she will only be in heat for a bout 2days every 2 weeks. All the other days that she isnt in heat she will be angered by his attempts. Every night once the creatures are wake bring the male hamster into her cage, and hopefully the female will be in heat and let him mount. Keep trying this trial an error process for 2wks and eventually you'll get your results. You'll be able to tell when the female is ready to mate. The couple will chase each other around the cage and eventually she'll lower her hind and let him mount.

    Hope this helps...
