Question:

Dwarf Hotot rabbits, fur on ears?

Hello, tomorrow I'm about to adopt a rabbit, so I went around to decide which pet shops I want to adopt from.

I saw some dward hotot rabbits, 6 weeks old, but I noticed they didn't have any fur on the back of their ears, not like injury or balding, but just as if that was the breed.

I've seen some pics of hotots with both furry and bald-ish ears. So would they grow fur as they grow or is it the breed?

Just curious,

Thanks

  1. If it is a true dwarf hotot, it should have fur on the back of the ears. If it is really young, and the fur on the back of the ear is thin, you shouldn't worry too much, it will grow out. But if it has NO fur, that is a problem. All rabbits start getting fur at the latest of 4 days old and should have fur everywhere (including ears.)

The breed has fur on the ears (not fluffy, but thick and straight) , so if the rabbit you're thinking about purchasing doesn't, you might want to reconsider.

    Best of luck :)
