Dwarf hamster acting strange?

My female dwarf hamster is acting kind of strange. Just a couple days ago her only pup died. She was sad for awhile. Since the pup died, all she does is sleep in the colorful tunnel. Just now, I watched her and she was out of the tunnel. Well she put some bedding in her mouth, ran around with it, then she went in the white fluff, i put it for her to sleep in. Now she's in the fluff in the corner sleeping in a ball. I don't know what's happening. Also she is scratching herself a lot. What's going on with her?

  1. If you haven't completely changed the cage since the loss of her pups, do so. She may still be smelling them and looking to take care of them.

Scratching could be mites. Read up on them and treat if necessary.

Another scratching possiblity is a bedding allergy - don't use cedar or pine with hamsters.

  2. mm.... if she is scratching alot it could be mite and u could buy him chinchilla sand for him to have a sand bath... and if she is sleeping a lot i think t could be because she was pregnant and she is very tired, give him a couple of days, she would get better but keep observating her she should be ok.... and about she making her bedding that is completly natural :D

I know that cuz i have a dwarf russian campbell too :D

    hop i helped
