Dwarf pear tree, can anyone help?

i've just planted a dwarf pear tree about a week ago and it's about 8-9 feet tall and i was wondering about how long will it take before it starts bearing pears?

  1. My mom has one and it was 2 years before she got pears, and the first year she did they were not good and the second they were perfect..


  2. Ray is correct.  Also it is recommended that if it bears fruit in the first 2 years remove them as soon as they show.  This allows the tree to put all its energy into the tree and you have a bigger healthier tree faster.

  3. It may take a season or two.

    on that note. it is critical to preen the tree so it bears bigger pears.

  4. give it atleast a year... i had a miniture peach tree and it started bearing after about year or 2 after planting it...

  5. It will depend on the variety of pear.  Some pears need another tree of a different variety nearby so in the spring when they flower, they will cross-pollinate. Your tree may never bear fruit unless its a self-pollinating variety.  If it is, it would take at least 2 years to bear fruit.
