Dwayne Bravo, Kieron Pollard to participate in Big Bash T20
West Indian all-rounders, Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard have been allowed permission by the West Indies Cricket Board to participate in the Australian KFC Big Bash T20 tournament. Both players participated in the tournament last year and will be in line
for another year after receiving the No-objection Certificates from the WICB.
Bravo and Pollard will follow the footsteps of their former West Indian captain Chris Gayle, who was also been allowed to play in the tournament earlier this month. Gayle will play for the Western Australian team.
Earlier, the cricket board was reluctant to allow the players to go ahead with playing in the Australian league given that the tournament was to run in parallel to the T20 tournament to be played in West Indies. This would mean that if the West Indian trio
features in the KFC Big Bash T20 they could end up missing their own T20 league.
The KFC Big Bash T20 will begin on December 30 and will continue till February 5. It will see each of the teams play four other teams once and then a fifth team twice. At the end of this round-robin, the number one team will directly go into the final while
the second and the third placed sides will feature in a semi-final. The winner of this semi-final will enter the final. Both the finalists will also feature in the next year’s Champions League T20.
The Caribbean T20 will be played between January 9 and 24.
An issue for the three West Indian players will be the announcement that the national T20 squad will be selected based on the players’ performances in the West Indies domestic competition. This means that missing the Caribbean T20 tournament could put the trio
out of national reckoning for any T20 tournament that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 play in.
