West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has welcomed the favourite tag being heaped on the Caribbean side as they gear up to open their World T20 campaign against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 at the R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, on Saturday.
“It’s good to come into the tournament and have people show us the kind of respect and admiration to rate us among the top teams,” said Bravo while speaking to media reporters after a practice session in Colombo, on Thursday.
The 28-year-old Trinidadian, who is currently ranked number five on http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Watson-c2558, said that his side had come to the Island nation brimming with confidence and will go
all the way in the T20 showpiece, underway in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 since Tuesday, September 18.
“It’s good to come into the tournament and have people show us the kind of respect and admiration to rate us among the top teams” said the right-handed middle-order batsman, who also bowls right-arm medium pace.
“We have come here as a confident team and we believe we can do very well for the people back home,” he added further.
Earlier http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KA-Pollard-c1754 had brushed aside the favourite tag. Sammy had said that it would mean nothing unless players back it up with on-field performances, while Pollard endorsed
the skipper adding the tag would only bring an extra pressure to the players.
All-rounder Dwayne Bravo has welcomed comments from some pundits who consider West Indies as one of the favourites to win the ICC world Twenty20 tournament underway in Sri Lanka.
Dwayne, who is half-brother of Barren Bravo, is also confident of rediscovering his form in the marquee tournament.
“I know I have a big part to play in the team during this tournament and I will look to contribute in all departments,” said the Trinidadian, who had played crucial role in West Indies’ impressive win over http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, at Lord’s during the 2009 T20 World Cup,
claiming four wickets and playing a match winning half-century knock.
“I would rate that performance as my best in T20 cricket. It is something that I will remember for some time,” he added further, referring to his 4 for 38 with ball, and a whirlwind knock 66 not out off 36 balls at Lord’s.
