Dwayne Bravo wants compatriot Chris Gayle in the national side
West Indian all-rounder, Dwayne Bravo, believes that the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) should have selected veteran batsman, Chris Gayle, for the home series against Pakistan. The explosive opener is currently representing the Royal Challengers Bangalore
(RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and has performed consistently.
Bravo was pleased with the performance of his compatriot and stated, “I am happy in the manner Chris has been performing. You feel proud when a fellow West Indian performs. It feels nice that West Indians are doing well in the Indian Premier League. Maybe
we are not playing for the national team, but the selectors will realise what they are missing.”
Gayle was not a part of the lucrative league this year, as he was not selected by any of the franchises in the player auctions. However, an injury to RCB’s pacer, Dirk Nannes, opened a window of opportunity for several players including the Caribbean dynamite.
RCB opted for Gayle and he didn’t disappoint the team, smashing a century in his debut game against Kolkata http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Knight-c71599 Riders (KKR). The team chased down a 172-run target in just 18.1 overs, courtesy some power hitting by the flamboyant opener.
Gayle remained unbeaten on 102 off just 55 deliveries, smashing 10 fours and seven towering sixes. His innings made the chase look ridiculously easy for the RCB team and the KKR bowlers were peppered to all parts of the ground.
Things didn’t end there for the hard-hitting left-hander, as he continued to dominate the bowlers in the next matches. He is amongst the top run scorers in the tournament until now and has played almost half number of matches compared to the others.
On the other hand, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755. The hosts lost the five-match One Day International (ODI) series by 2-3 and didn’t look the ideal team to prevail in the Test
matches.
However, the Windies managed to surprise their opponents in a low scoring game, winning the first of the two-match Test series by 40 runs. If the ongoing feud between the board and some senior players comes to an end, it will put the Caribbean Kings in a
very strong position.
