Dwight Howard, Andrew Bynum and the Los Angeles Lakers – NBA Feature (Part-4)
Rebounding
If we compare the rebounding numbers of Dwight Howard and Andrew Bynum, Howard once again leads the way, be it the stats of the preceding season or the career average.
In the last season Howard amassed an average of 14.1 rebounds per game on the paint, taking his career   average to12.9 rebounds per game. Bynum on the other hand recorded an average of 9.4 rebounds per game in the last season
and 7.1 is his career average.
However, Howard cannot be judged as the winner of this contest without considering an important fact here.
Howard gained these stats by playing an average 37.6 minutes per game in the 2010-11 season whereas Bynum played nearly 10 minutes less than him at 27.8 minutes per game. In addition to that, Bynum was on the sidelines for a number
of games due to an injury and his real impact came after the All-Star weekend.
However, if we compare them on the basis of approach, Howard will once again be found supreme. Howard has no match when it comes to going after the ball. Whether on the front court or on the back, you will always find him in a
skirmish to grasp the ball and that has been the story for the last six season.
Bynum although mightily effective on the glass, is more of a backcourt player and the lion’s share of his rebounding comes on the defense. He and the Lakers in general are heavily reliant on Pau Gasol to do the clutching work on
the opposition paint and this is the main reason why Bynum lags behind Howard.
Strength and Fitness
Orlando Magic’s dazzling centre maintains a weight of 265 pounds and is a pure muscle that inspires not only other players in the league, but also the basketball followers. Howard is with a doubt in the best physical shape than
any other player and specifically than any centre in the entire league.
It’s not just that Howard maintains a good physique, but he also runs well with it. His stamina on the court as per daily routine is exceptional. Moreover, he uses his muscular body very well to his benefit both in the offensive
and defensive play. Therefore his physique is an important part of his play.
In comparison to him, Bynum is all together a different anecdote. The 285 pound Bynum possess a raw body and every grain of it is evident. This doesn’t mean that Andrew is like Shaquille O’Neal, there is no match between them.

These extra pounds also reduces his advantage over Howard, as when it comes to stamina on daily basis, Bynum is not the player that will be on the priority list of any basketball coach. Because it’s real hard for Bynum to play
30 minutes in every game, as he lacks the stamina to run the floor which Howard possesses.
That is why everyone gives the example of Howard’s great physique and stamina in National Basketball Association, which Bynum can just think of.
