Dwight Howard has a perfect setting to be the franchise player for Los Angeles Lakers after Kobe Bryant retires….

As Dwight Howard heads over to the Los Angeles Lakers, he might join the list of true big men who have won NBA Championships after coming to Hollywood.
The 6 time All-Star became the second centre in Orlando Magic’s history to join the Lakers following in the footsteps of Shaquille O’Neal. Howard would hope to be bestowed with similar kind of fate like Shaq, who won three NBA
Championships with the Lakers.
The Lakers have a long history of having the best big men in NBA in their roster including the likes of George Mikan, Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and O'Neal.
Every one of these players had successful tenures with the Lakers and brought multiple championships home.
General manager Mitch Kupchak hopes Howard will be able to achieve a similar kind of a status with the team.
”Today, the speculation finally comes to an end. And we're hopeful that 10 years from now, we can add a jersey to that wall over there that says Dwight Howard." – Kupchak said
The Lakers fans may have to wait a while before they can see the big man in action as Howard recovers from back injury. But the possibility of having D-12 playing alongside Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash and Pau Gasol does turn the Lakers
into very strong contenders.
While the Lakers get their hands on a very strong roster for next season, the trade also secures their search for a true franchise face after Kobe Bryant hangs up his boots – something even the Black Mamba admitted after the trade.
“I'll probably play two or three more years. Then the team is his," Bryant said. "I'm excited for the franchise because now they have a player that can carry the franchise well after I'm gone. This should be his and he should want
to accept that challenge."
There can be no doubt that Howard with his skill set has all the assets available to become the face of the Lakers franchise. He has averaged double-double figures throughout his career, is a perennial All-Star, and with a little
bit of support, he can take the Lakers to new heights in the years to come.
