Dwight Howard and Chris Paul are NBA Players of the Week
Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic (4-1) and Chris Paul of the New Orleans Hornets (6-0) have been named the NBA Players of the Week for their games played between Monday 1 November and
Sunday 7 November. Howard won the award for the Eastern Conference while Paul won it for the Western Conference.
Led by Howard, the Magic went undefeated on the week, with victories against the Minnesota Timberwolves, the New Jersey Nets, and the Charlotte Bobcats. The Magic won the three games by
an average margin of 20.0 points. Over the course of the week, Howard averaged 23.3 points, 13.4 rebounds and registered 11 total blocked shots. Against the Timberwolves, Howard set a new franchise record for most blocks in a single quarter of play when he
tallied six blocks in a quarter.
Point guard Chris Paul, who has led his team to only one of two unbeaten records in the league, helped the Hornets defeat the Houston Rockets, the Miami Heat, and the Milwaukee Bucks.
Paul averaged 17.3 points, 11.0 assists, and 3.7 steals over the three games, while shooting 51 per cent from the field over the week. Paul helped his Hornets beat a powerful Heat team, who only had one loss on the season before playing the Hornets. Going
up against LeBron James’ team, Paul put up 13 points, 19 assists, and five steals. Paul came close to a triple-double in two of the three games, notching 25 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists against the Rockets and 14, nine, and six against the Bucks.

Miami's LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, New Orleans' Emeka Okafor, Phoenix's Jason Richardson, Houston's Luis Scola, and Charlotte's Gerald Wallace.
