Orlando Magic’s Dwight Howard and Dallas Maverick’s Dirk Nowitzki have been awarded the honour of NBA players of the week for the Eastern and the Western Conference respectively, a just reward for their impressive exploits during the period spanning from
22nd to 28th November.
Dwight Howard
This honour marks the 13th time Dwight Howard has won this title and second in this season alone. Howard has been instrumental in the success of the Magics’ this week as he led his team to a 3-1 record notching up 26.3 points and 14.5 rebounds
in four games, posting a double-double in each game.
After fetching 26 points, 18 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 blocks against the Western Conference leaders San Antonio Spurs last Monday in a losing cause, the superstar marshaled his team to three consecutive victories over the Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers
and the Washington Wizards.
In the last game against the Wizards he nailed a game winning layup 4 seconds from the buzzer as he finished with 32 points and 11 rebounds on the night, shooting 12 of 19 from the floor.
Dirk Nowitzki
The seven foot forward from Germany, who has been posting 26.1 points and 8.2 rebounds on average this season was declared West’s best as he guided his side to 4-0 spurt in the week averaging 31 points, 7.5 boards and 3.5 assists on 57.3 percent shooting
from the field.
Nowitzki started the week with a bang recording a season-high 42 points, 12 rebounds, one assist and two blocks against Detroit en route to his fifth double-double of the season.
A few nights later he masterminded a 103-94 victory over the high flying San Antonio Spurs, ending their 12 game winning run. Dirk Nowitzki shot 12-of-14 (.857) from the floor and scored a team-high 26 points adding eight rebounds and five assists in 40

The Mavericks (12-4) are currently riding a hot streak in a week that saw them win four games in five days with key victories over Atlanta, OKC, Miami and San Antonio. The Mavericks though in no small terms owe their gratitude to the efficient play of their
All-Star power forward Dirk Nowitzki.
