NBA’s most dominating big man is certainly glad to be with the Los Angeles Lakers and believes 'everything happened the way that it was meant to happen' .....
The summer of 2012 saw the Dwight Howard saga come to an end with the big man finally getting traded to Western Conference powerhouse, the Los Angeles Lakers.
On one side, the Lakers went about bringing together a collection of star players to become genuine title contenders while on the other end of the spectrum Orlando Magic, after a long and moral sapping trade saga, are now going
to start a painful rebuilding process. The move had been expected for over a year with a lot of suitors lining up for Howard and in the end, it finally took four teams with 11 NBA players and  five future draft picks to formulate the trade.
The way Howard conducted himself during the trade was certainly not fitting of a superstar, but have no doubt that Magic, their poor acquisitions and under achievements, are also to blame for making D-12 this much disgruntled.
After the trade Howard has become the new LeBron James so to say, but the big man revealed in a detailed interview on Sunday, that he is glad the nightmare is finally over.
"I don't have any regrets, you know. I think everything happened the way that it was meant to happen," Howard said. "I really just wish some of the lies and some of the things being said didn't come out the way it did, you know.
While everyone is focussed on what would happen of Orlando and their future aspirations with a lot of blame coming Howard’s way for leaving his team. But nobody stops to think for a moment about what Howard has just gone through
as he parted ways with a team he had spent the first 8 seasons of his career.
In the very same interview given to ESPN representative Ric Bucher, Howard opened up about the new found hate he is experiencing;
"I never wanted anybody to hate me, you know. I wanted everybody to love me, you know, like me, for sticking around and doing what they wanted me to do. And making everybody else happy. And that was a valuable lesson for me, you
know.”
With the lesson learned, Howard is now focussing his attention towards being the best he can be for the Lakers. He will not be getting into action straight away as he is currently recovering from a back surgery, but vowed to give
it his all when he returns.
Howard has not committed to the Lakers on a long term basis till now but it is highly likely that he would stick around, especially if the Lakers win the NBA title next season, and also considering the fact that he is being looked
upon as the man who will take the Lakers throne after Kobe Bryant retires.
