Dwight Howard opens up about final few months with the Orlando Magic – NBA News
As the Lakers practiced on Saturday in order to get ready to take on the visiting Orlando Magic on Sunday night, former Magic centre and franchise player Dwight Howard was in a very retrospective mood, opening up after months about how he felt about his final few months in Orlando before he was traded to the Lakers.
Howard talked with the media after the practice and as was expected since  he is all set to face his former team for the first time, there were a lot of questions about the Magic and his final months over there. And Howard opened up about the whole situation for the first time, saying that it was nothing personal but more of a business decision, adding that he still feels love for the organization and the fans of Orlando.
"There are some things that could've been done better on both sides. But at the end of the day, we all learn some lessons and we've got to move forward. I'm happy here, I'm having a lot of fun. This is a place that I've always prayed that I could be a part of something very special. So I want to take advantage of it,” said Howard.
Howard said he did not want to elaborate on what could have been done different by both sides in the build-up to his trade to the Los Angeles Lakers, but did say that he is looking to future instead of the past now.
“It doesn't really matter to talk about it now. There are a lot of things we both could've done, but at the end of the day, it happened just the way it was supposed to happen. There was a reason behind everything,” added Howard.
Dwight also had high praises for the ownership of the Magic franchise, the DeVos family. He says that he will always have respect and love in his heart for the family, and added that he has stayed in touch with Dan DeVos, chairman of the team, even after being traded to Los Angeles.
Howard’s eyes grew brighter when he was asked how he was feeling with his new team, and said that their concentration on winning a championship had him feeling great about where he was, hinting that he might sign on with the team at the end of the season. Howard is currently in the final season of his contract and can re-sign with the Lakers for a five year contract or with another team for a four year contract at the end of the season.
