Dwight Howard to Amway Center fans:  Bring on the noise – NBA Update
Orlando Magic’s mercurial centre Dwight Howard has revealed he would like to get the noise level up at the Amway Center during the regular season. Howard said he wanted to hear more from the crowd in response to a fan who complained
that many fans, especially in the expensive courtside seats, do not give their all during the regular season.
Howard who is regarded as the best centre playing basketball at present is a huge star in Orlando. The player is held in high esteem by the fans that cling on to his every word.
He has time and again been linked with a move away from the Magic, who are based in the small market area of Orlando. Furthermore, the team has not been able to perform up to expectations on the court, often leaving Howard fighting
in losing causes. That was particularly true in last season’s playoffs when Orlando matched up against the Atlanta Hawks in the first round and despite some tremendous performances from Dwight, lost the series due to the abysmal form of the rest of the team.
Howard has however once again decided to stay in Orlando, at least until the end of next season. The centre repeatedly quoted his love for the city and the fans as the main reason for prolonging his stay with the Magic and has
therefore endeared himself even more to the fans.
His demand from the fans to be noisier during the regular season is sure not to go unheard. Howard’s logic was that he did not slack off during the regular season and so shouldn’t the fans.
Taking to the twitter, he said;
“that upsets me cuz I don’t wait till the playoffs to play hard. I give y’all my best everynite. Y becuz some people don’t get a chance to be at every game. And I want them to always remember the nite they saw me play. So. I play
for y’all. I feed off the fans. ESP at home. It’s a different atmosphere in the playoffs at the arena. That same atmosphere should be during the season.”
Orlando is just another among a number of teams in the NBA who have trouble filling up the arena during the regular season. The problem plagues almost the entire league because fans flock to playoff games with great zest and energy,
but the same is not there in the regular season.
Howard’s appeal could prove some betterment in Orlando’s situation, at least temporarily, but nobody expects it to be a lasting change.
